Unofficial results are in for Meridian Township marijuana proposal

The unofficial votes for Meridian Township’s proposal to prohibit marijuana establishments in Meridian are in, and it appears to be a narrow defeat.

By 12:45 a.m., 22 of 22 precincts (100%) had reported. There were 2,034 votes in favor of the proposal (which would prohibit the businesses) and 2,195 votes against it (to defeat the proposal and allow recreational marijuana establishments in the township).
There are currently no medical marijuana facilities in the township.

Here are some of the township residents’ reactions to this proposal:

All of the precincts have reported in some races, and unofficial results are in for the following State House races. Here are where these races stood as of 12:30 a.m.

State House District 77

  • Precincts reported: 20 of 20 (100%) in Ingham County, 29 of 55 (52.73%) in Clinton County
  • Democrats: Emily Dievendorf (2,923 in Ingham County, 1,138 in Clinton County), Jon Horford (2,671 In Ingham County, 929 in Clinton County) and Logan Byrne (913 in Ingham County, 780 in Clinton County)
  • Republican: John J. Magoola (1,608 in Ingham County, 2,442 in Clinton County)

State House District 75

  • Precincts reported: 19 of 21 (90.48%) in Ingham County, 29 of 55 (52.73%) in Clinton County
  • Democrats: Penelope Tsernoglou (2,972 in Ingham County, 1,314 in Clinton County), Emily Stivers (2,302 in Ingham County, 872 in Clinton County) and Don L. Keskey (355 in Ingham County, 201 in Clinton County)
  • Republican: Chris Stewart (1,903 in Ingham County, 2,419 in Clinton County)

State House District 74

  • Precincts reported: 32 of 32 (100%)
  • Democrats: Kara Hope: (8,058), Carlee Knott (1,926) and Albert L. Kelley, Jr. (1,104)
  • Republican: Jennifer Sokol (4,281)
